2025 School Project Grants Program
This grant provides funding to public and certified private schools in Greenville County to support arts education projects that enhance students' appreciation and understanding of the arts.
The Metropolitan Arts Council (MAC), based in Greenville, South Carolina, offers the School Quarterly Project Grants Program to support arts education in local schools. MAC is committed to integrating the arts into basic education by assisting schools in delivering arts-focused activities and curricula to students in Greenville County. The grant is intended to enhance students' understanding and appreciation of the arts through varied activities like performances, exhibitions, in-school and after-school classes, and artist residencies. This program is exclusively available to public or certified private schools within Greenville County that have no outstanding obligations from previous MAC project grants. Schools are allowed to submit only one application per quarter and may receive up to two grants per fiscal year. The principal of each applying school is responsible for overseeing the application and reporting process, ensuring that previous grants are closed with an approved final report before new applications are submitted. Applications must reflect fully planned and budgeted projects, including confirmed performance dates, venues, and times. Conceptual projects will not be considered. Funding for each grant is available up to $2,000 with a required 1:1 match, meaning applicants must demonstrate the ability to match the awarded funds dollar-for-dollar. In-kind contributions are not accepted for matching purposes. Each project may only be funded once and cannot be supported by multiple quarterly grants within the same year. All grant applications must be submitted through MAC's online system. Starting in 2025, paper submissions are no longer accepted. Applications must be submitted by midnight on the respective quarterly deadline. The deadlines for 2025 are as follows: February 14 for projects starting May through July, May 15 for projects starting August through October, August 15 for projects starting November through January, and November 14 for projects starting February through April of the following year. MAC provides detailed guidance in the application and expects applicants to ensure that all elements of the project are finalized prior to submission. Failure to meet these requirements or to submit by the deadline will result in the application being denied. The Metropolitan Arts Council can be reached for inquiries at their office located at 16 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29601. They can be contacted by phone at 864-467-3132. Office hours are Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
