Grant Description

The City of Brentwood’s Economic Development Grant Program for fiscal year 2025–2026 is designed to support projects that enhance local business activity, promote institutional advertisement of the city, and improve economic opportunities within the Brentwood community. Funded through 20% of the city's business operating tax revenue, this annual program provides reimbursement grants for marketing, events, and business development initiatives that benefit the community and align with the city's economic development goals. Applications are accepted from April 7 to April 28, 2025, for projects taking place between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Applications must be submitted electronically or by mail by 11:59 p.m. PT on April 28. Eligible applicants include businesses and nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations that hold or are exempt from a current Brentwood Business License. All projects must occur within the city limits or clearly demonstrate a benefit to Brentwood’s business and community ecosystem. Grants may cover operational expenses related to events and marketing, but cannot fund staff salaries or benefits. The application must include a detailed budget, project goals, target population, and expected economic impacts. All grantees must comply with anti-discrimination laws and maintain appropriate insurance coverage. Returning applicants may receive up to 50% of their grant amount in advance, with the remainder disbursed upon final reporting. New grantees receive a single reimbursement after project completion and approval of required documentation. Applications are reviewed based on clarity of purpose, alignment with City Council goals, potential to generate local business activity, support for small business development, financial planning, and whether the project introduces a new or previously unavailable community service. Awards are made following staff scoring, Land Use and Development Committee review, and final approval by the City Council.
