Transgender, Gender Diverse, Intersex Arts Grant 2026
This grant provides financial support for artistic projects that celebrate and represent the experiences of transgender, non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals in Los Angeles County, specifically within West Hollywood.
The Transgender, Gender Diverse, Intersex Plus (TGI+) Arts Grant is administered by the City of West Hollywood to promote and support artistic presentations by and for the TGI+ community. Established by the City Council in 2013, the grant is designed to uplift and enhance artistic efforts that reflect the experiences, culture, and identities of transgender, non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming individuals. This annual program underscores the cityโs ongoing commitment to cultural equity and inclusivity through the arts. This grant supports individual artists, artist collectives or groups, and nonprofit organizations that have a demonstrable history of engagement with the TGI+ community. Eligible applicants must be based in Los Angeles County and must present a single project, such as an exhibition, performance, or screening, within West Hollywood or within a five-block radius of the cityโs border during the 2026 calendar year. A key expectation is that applicants articulate outreach strategies that specifically target West Hollywood residents and audiences. Funding for this opportunity totals $30,000, with a maximum award of $6,500 per recipient. Each applicant must adhere to several eligibility conditions, such as being a 501(c)(3) nonprofit or having fiscal sponsorship, and not receiving concurrent funding from other City departments for the same project. Individuals associated with the City of West Hollywood, including employees, officials, and their immediate families, are ineligible to apply. The application process requires an online submission by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. Applicants are evaluated initially by city staff for eligibility. Qualified proposals are then reviewed by a peer panel of arts professionals based on project cohesion, clarity of budget and timeline, demonstrated commitment to the TGI+ community, and trans representation in either the artists involved or the intended audience. Projects based within West Hollywood receive an additional scoring point per city policy. The review and approval process continues through subcommittees and city commissions, culminating with final approval from the City Council in October 2025, with notifications sent to recipients the same month. Additional expectations for grantees include attending an orientation (scheduled for November 13, 2025), submitting a final report within 30 days of project completion, and, if using a city facility, providing liability insurance and covering any required technology consultant fees. The earliest disbursement of funds will occur in January 2026, contingent upon compliance with all contracting requirements. Applicants were also encouraged to participate in virtual grant program workshops scheduled for May 21 and May 28, 2025. These sessions are designed to support applicants in understanding the grant overview and budget planning. Questions related to the grant were due by May 20, 2025, and applicants unable to attend the sessions were allowed to submit questions in advance.
