The Jackson EMC Foundation provides funding to individuals and organizations in the counties served by Jackson EMC, including Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, and Oglethorpe. Non-profits, community-based or volunteer organizations, civic organizations, shelters, hospitals, families and individuals may apply for grants. Grant awards are limited to $5,000 for individuals and $20,000 for organizations. Applications must be targeted to program support in areas such as human need; education and development; family enrichment; literacy; health education, awareness and advocacy; and medical or disaster-related emergencies. The board meets bi-monthly to review applications and decisions are communicated within 60 days of the meeting at which the application was reviewed. Applicants can apply by completing the forms provided on the Jackson EMC website and emailing them to jemcfoundation@jacksonemc.com. The Foundation operates in compliance with Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and funding may come from participating members, employee donations, and unclaimed capital credits. Eligibility details for Jackson EMC Foundation grants: - Eligible applicants: Any individual or organization in the counties served by Jackson EMC – Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison and Oglethorpe. Non-profits, community-based or volunteer organizations, civic organizations, shelters, hospitals, families and individuals may apply for grants. - Limitations on grant applications: Organizations should target program support related to human need; education and development; family enrichment; literacy; health education, awareness and advocacy; and medical or disaster-related emergencies. Individuals and organizations may receive only one grant award per year. Awards are limited to $5,000 for individuals and $20,000 for organizations. - Decision process: Applications will be reviewed by the Foundation board of directors. The board meets bi-monthly and accepts applications at any time. It could take up to 4-5 months to process requests due to a high volume of applications. - Application process: Forms can be printed and completed by hand or typed, completed online with the risk of losing work if browser crashes or internet connection fails, or saved and completed using Acrobat Reader. Completed forms may be emailed to jemcfoundation@jacksonemc.com. Operation Round Up program eligibility details: - Eligible applicants: 501(c)3 designated organizations, civic groups, community-based organizations, volunteer organizations, shelters for human need. - Eligible causes: Human need; educational programs (except academic scholarships); physical and emotional development; counseling; literacy; health or medical initiatives; disaster-related initiatives. Exclusions from grants include discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender disability or national origin; payment of electric or gas bills; individual rent assistance; automobiles (except handicap accessible or group transport for charitable organizations); non-human need programs; grants to churches and religious organizations (with exceptions); grants exceeding established limits require approval by the FOUNDATION Board.
