Better Together Nature Positive Innovation Grant 2025
This funding opportunity provides $100,000 each to innovative environmental projects in five regions, focusing on land stewardship, air quality, or water stewardship, particularly benefiting disadvantaged communities.
The Better Together Nature Positive Innovation Grant Program is administered by the PG&E Corporation Foundation, a philanthropic entity aligned with Pacific Gas and Electric Company. This annual initiative exemplifies PG&E’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community betterment. The grant program is now entering its fourth year in 2025 and supports innovative environmental projects across five of PG&E’s defined regions. The 2025 cycle opened for applications on May 21, 2025, and will remain open until July 18, 2025. One grant of $100,000 will be awarded in each of the five regions for a total of $500,000 in funding. Eligible proposals must focus on one of three key environmental areas: land stewardship, air quality, or water stewardship. Applications are encouraged from projects that benefit disadvantaged and/or vulnerable communities, aligning with the foundation’s equity goals. Funded projects can span various phases including planning, design, construction, education, and coordination. Applicants must be governmental organizations (including tribal governments), educational institutions, or 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations/public charities. Nonprofits must be currently registered with the IRS, the California Department of Justice, and the Franchise Tax Board. Fiscal sponsors are not eligible; only direct grantees may apply. Organizations that received this grant in either 2023 or 2024 are ineligible to apply for the 2025 round. Evaluation of proposals includes compliance with submission instructions and adherence to the goals of the program. Applicants are encouraged to consult a glossary of terms and sample resources provided in the reference materials. Selected projects must complete a post-award questionnaire, participate in quarterly progress calls, and submit a final report including an executive summary. All project work must be completed within 18 months of the grant being awarded. Applications must be submitted through Microsoft Forms, and only one application per organization is permitted. To assist in preparation, a reference PDF outlining all application questions is available. However, submissions made using the PDF will not be accepted. General inquiries can be directed to the Nature Positive Innovation Grant team via email. Notably, organizations may apply concurrently for both the Nature Positive Innovation Grant and PG&E’s separate Resilience Hubs Grant program during the same grant cycle.
