Grant Description

The Promise on the Plains grant from United Way of the Plains aims to invest in the capacity of grassroots organizations impacting underserved communities in south-central Kansas. Grants of up to $10,000 are available to help strengthen these organizations' efforts in the key areas of health, education, financial stability, and basic needs. This opportunity builds on United Way's annual tradition of supporting community initiatives that work to ensure that everyone in the region can thrive. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofits located within the United Way of the Plains’ ten-county service area, which includes Sedgwick, Harvey (ZIP codes 67135 and 67147), Butler (excluding ZIP 67042), Cowley, Sumner, Harper, Kingman, Reno (ZIP codes 67025, 67035, 67050, 67068, 67108), Pratt, and Barber counties. Organizations that received an Impact on the Plains grant in 2024 or a 2025–2026 Opportunity on the Plains grant are ineligible. The 2025 application opens April 16, 2025, and closes at noon on May 16, 2025. Grant recipients will be announced on June 18, 2025. Applications must be submitted online and require organizational information, proof of nonprofit status, and responses to six proposal questions about mission alignment, community impact, client demographics, grant use, and organizational values. Recipients are required to submit a biannual success story to report on grant outcomes.
