Grant Description

The Routt County Climate Action Collaborative Fund, administered by the Yampa Valley Community Foundation (YVCF), supports local projects aligned with the Routt County Climate Action Plan. Grants of up to $25,000 are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, and special entities that have formally adopted the Climate Action Plan. All funded projects must be located within Routt County, Colorado, and must focus on one of five sectors: Energy, Transportation, Waste, Land Use, or Economy. The 2025 grant cycle opened on March 17, 2025, with applications due by April 16, 2025, at 11:30 PM. Applications will be reviewed by the Routt County Climate Action Plan Collaborative Board, with funding decisions expected in early May 2025. The fund specifically aims to support initiatives such as habitat restoration, waste diversion, renewable energy deployment, energy assessments, fuel switching for commercial and residential purposes, and climate-friendly transportation solutions. Given the rapid regional impacts of climate change, such as early snowmelt, droughts, wildfires, and river closures due to high water temperatures, the Collaborative stresses the importance of proactive climate action at the local level. Projects funded through this program are intended to prepare Routt County for future environmental shifts while supporting the local economy, health, and community resilience. Interested applicants are encouraged to subscribe to the Nonprofit Newsletter or contact Camille Sachs at [email protected] for more information. Donations to support the fund are accepted by check or online and directly contribute to local climate action efforts. The Yampa Valley Community Foundation is located at 348 Oak Street, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487, and can be reached by phone at 970.879.8632 or via email at [email protected]. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
