Grant Description

The BIPOC Small Business Accelerator, offered by PeopleFund, provides underserved entrepreneurs in Texas with access to capital, education, and resources to support business growth. This program focuses on fostering economic opportunities in low-to-moderate-income communities and is open to both start-up and existing businesses statewide. Participants will complete virtual training sessions, utilize tools like LivePlan business planning software, and benefit from expedited loan support. Those who meet program requirements, secure a PeopleFund loan, and graduate are eligible for a grant of $3,000–$5,000 for equity injection or other legal business purposes. The Q1 2025 cohort is limited to the first 70 eligible applicants, with applications open from November 1, 2024, to January 3, 2025. The program is available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents in Texas whose businesses or personal addresses are in low-to-moderate-income areas or who have qualifying household incomes. Applicants must meet credit, income, and legal qualifications, including no bankruptcies in the past five years and the ability to support a loan payment. Participants gain access to valuable tools and resources, including LivePlan software, the Verizon Digital Ready Program, and a comprehensive curriculum. The program also provides one-on-one coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Business planning support includes completing financial statements and a capital portfolio. Interested applicants can attend webinars to learn more about the program on November 7, 2024, or December 3, 2024, from 6–7 PM CST. For more information or to apply, visit PeopleFund’s website or submit an interest form. Partnerships with community organizations help ensure robust support for participants.
