Grant Description

Main Street America seeks proposals from experienced video production companies to create three documentary-style videos for the Great American Main Street Awards (GAMSA). This program recognizes communities that demonstrate excellence in revitalizing historic downtowns and commercial districts through the Main Street Approach. Main Street America is a nonprofit organization with a network of over 1,600 member communities, dedicated to fostering economic development and community preservation. The objective is to produce three 4:30 to 5-minute videos and three 20 to 30-second shorts that compellingly tell the transformation stories of the three winning communities. These stories should highlight the communities’ journeys from their founding to present day, emphasizing the positive impact of their local Main Street programs. The videos should be inspiring, documentary-style pieces incorporating interviews, b-roll, historic and current imagery, music, and appropriate branding elements. The budget for this project is $40,000, which covers filming and editing. Travel costs for two videographers—up to three nights per community—will be reimbursed separately in accordance with GSA per-diem rates. Final deliverables must be optimized for digital projection and social media sharing. The production process includes collaboration with Main Street America and the communities to develop a schedule, capture footage, and iterate based on feedback. Proposals must be submitted by June 9, 2025. There is a question period that closes on the same date. If needed, invited presentations will take place between June 23 and June 25, with a final selection expected by July 11, 2025. The project will kick off in early September, with filming scheduled for October through November and post-production wrapping up by February 2026. Final files are due in early March 2026. Eligibility is open to experienced video production companies. While specific legal statuses are not required, applicants must demonstrate relevant experience and a creative approach to community storytelling. Proposals will be evaluated based on experience, creative vision, and cost.
