Grant Description

The Yucaipa Community Activity Grant Program was established by the City of Yucaipa to support local non-profit 501(c) organizations that provide meaningful services, programs, or events that benefit Yucaipa residents. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to fostering community engagement and enriching local life through financial and in-kind assistance. On March 24, 2025, the Yucaipa City Council approved the continuation of the program for the FY 2025/26 cycle, allocating $20,000 for direct financial grants and $40,000 for in-kind service or fee waiver requests. To be eligible for funding, organizations must be Yucaipa-based and possess official 501(c) non-profit status. The grant can be used for ongoing services, new initiatives, or events that are held within the community. However, funding will not be provided to non-local organizations or for events/programs occurring outside Yucaipa. Programs duplicating existing services in the community or those related to certain city venues—such as the Yucaipa Performing Arts Center (except for Yucaipa High School’s music and art programs), Equestrian Center, or Uptown Park—are also ineligible. Only the Scherer Community Center may be used for regular in-kind meeting space requests. Applicants seeking financial assistance must provide a 100% match, meaning every dollar requested must be matched by the organization. Applications must include a complete set of information, including proof of eligibility, program scope, statement of need, budget documentation, and a clear plan for measuring outcomes. The financial grant applications must be submitted by May 16, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered. In-kind requests have no specific deadline but will be reviewed on a rolling basis until funds are depleted. Applications can be submitted via email, mail, or in-person delivery. The city provides a Facility Use Application for applicants intending to use city spaces. Completed submissions should be addressed to Tara Davis at the General Services/City Clerk Department. Financial grants are paid out in full 30-45 days after City Council approval, and a mandatory financial accountability report must be filed within one month following the funded event or project. Failure to submit this report disqualifies organizations from future funding cycles. For organizations planning events requiring city facility rentals or special permits, coordination with the Community Services Department is recommended prior to applying.
