Grant Description

The County of Maui's Department of Housing is requesting proposals for the 2026 Affordable Housing Fund Program. This initiative aims to support projects that provide affordable housing for families earning up to 140% of the area's median family income. Eligible activities include rehabilitation of existing structures, land acquisition, planning, design, and construction. Applications will be available starting October 17, 2024, and must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. HST on November 15, 2024. Each submission must include five sets of the application: one unbound original, three bound copies, and a digital copy on a USB flash drive. Project requirements include demonstrating compliance with Chapter 3.35 of the Maui County Code, securing site control, and completing environmental reviews. Projects must begin construction within twelve months of the agreement execution and finish within twenty-four months. Selected projects will be recommended to the Maui County Council for funding, with notifications expected by December 6, 2024.
