SCF SummerTime Kids Grant Initiative
This initiative provides funding to nonprofit organizations and government entities in Stark County, Ohio, to create engaging summer programs that promote education, character development, and community enrichment for youth.
SummerTime Kids is a grant initiative managed by the Stark Community Foundation, aimed at supporting unique and imaginative summer youth programs in Stark County, Ohio. This initiative is guided by a volunteer committee and foundation staff, providing funding to projects that enrich the lives of youth and contribute positively to the broader community. The program offers grants of up to $2,000 to nonprofit organizations and government entities that develop summer programs with engaging, educational, and character-building activities for children. Eligible applicants must be tax-exempt private agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations recognized as public charities, or government entities located in Stark County or directly benefiting the area. Preference is given to programs that provide youth with educational growth opportunities, promote character development, and encourage arts, culture, and outdoor exploration. Additional priority is given to projects that introduce youth to new experiences on college campuses, improve literacy through reading programs, fill gaps in low-income areas by providing meals and transportation, and organize field trips. Grant funding is limited to a maximum of $2,000 per program. Organizations may submit multiple applications only if each program serves a distinct group of children. Applications must be submitted online through Stark Community Foundation’s Grant Portal, and only online submissions will be accepted. Grant recipients are required to submit an evaluative report at the end of the grant period detailing the program's impact and financial expenditures. Failure to complete this report may impact the organization's ability to receive future funding. The deadline to apply for the SummerTime Kids grant is March 7, 2025. Grant award decisions will be communicated to applicants by mail, and funding is expected to be awarded in April 2025. For additional information or inquiries, applicants can contact Dana S. Johnson, Grants Manager and Program Officer, at 234-458-2915 or via email at djohnson@starkcf.org. The Stark Community Foundation's office is located at 400 Market Avenue North, Suite 200, Canton, OH 44702, and can be reached at 330-454-3426.
