Grant Description

The Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program is administered by The Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, a private philanthropic organization committed to advancing the chemical sciences. This program is designed to support early-career faculty at primarily undergraduate institutions in the United States by fostering their teaching and research development. This prestigious award provides a $75,000 unrestricted research grant to faculty in departments that confer bachelor’s or master’s degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, materials chemistry, or chemical engineering. The program focuses on supporting candidates who have demonstrated both exceptional teaching commitments and scholarly research accomplishments with undergraduates. Eligible applicants must hold a full-time, tenure-line appointment and be in their fifth to twelfth year of independent academic careers. Departments associated with Ph.D. programs are excluded. Each institution may submit only one nomination per cycle. The foundation allows for exceptions to the eligibility window for formal tenure clock stops such as parental or medical leave, which must be clearly addressed in the nomination letter. Application materials include an online nomination form, a two-page nomination letter, a six-page research summary, a two-page educational statement, and a five-page CV. Additionally, three separate letters of support must be submitted directly by the letter writers. These letters carry significant weight in the review process, which is overseen by a panel of distinguished faculty in the chemical sciences. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF to submissions@dreyfus.org by August 7, 2025. While the Foundation will allow one-paragraph appendices for noteworthy updates within three weeks post-deadline, no additional documents are accepted beyond the stated requirements. Awards will be announced in early November 2025. For inquiries or to discuss special circumstances, applicants are encouraged to contact the Foundation at programs@dreyfus.org or by phone at 212-753-1760. Awardees are recognized as Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholars and are expected to acknowledge the Foundation in any related publications or presentations.
