Grant Description

The Alexander Eastman Foundation offers community grants to support health and wellness initiatives that benefit residents of the Greater Derry, New Hampshire area, which includes the towns of Derry, Londonderry, Windham, Chester, Hampstead, and Sandown. The Foundation’s fields of interest include health care, mental health, dental care, developmental and rehabilitative services, health and wellness promotion, health education, nutrition, and disease prevention. Grants are awarded annually to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and public agencies serving the designated geographic area. The Foundation provides funding for capital needs, special projects, and operational needs, but does not offer ongoing general operating support or cover costs that should be publicly funded. Grants are awarded based on proposals submitted through the Foundation’s Grant Lifecycle Management online process. The 2025 application window opens on March 2, 2025, and applications are due by May 11, 2025. Grant awards will be announced in late June. The Foundation's standard Annual Grant Awards generally range up to $50,000, with exceptions possible at the Board’s discretion. Additionally, Chair Grants, which are smaller grants to address urgent community health, wellness, or education needs, may be awarded off-cycle in amounts up to $10,000. Chair Grants are intended for unexpected needs and should not substitute for regular grant applications. Program priorities include expanding access to quality healthcare and prevention services for those with financial need, providing community education to promote health and well-being, strengthening family systems, and fostering individual responsibility and healthy lifestyles. Proposals are evaluated for clarity, fiscal soundness, alignment with program priorities, and the applicant organization's capacity to deliver the proposed project. Grantees are required to submit a Final Grant Report upon completion of funded activities. Organizations with outstanding reports will be ineligible to apply for new grants until their final report is submitted. For assistance, applicants can contact the Foundation by email at [email protected] or by phone at 603-685-4275.
