Grant Description

The Injury Prevention-Child Injury Prevention (IC26) Continuation Grant is administered by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Bureau of Health Improvement and Wellness, Violence and Injury Prevention Section. It is funded through the federal Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG). The grant aims to support efforts to reduce child injuries through local and statewide prevention strategies, coalition participation, and policy, system, and environmental (PSE) changes. The grant performance period runs from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026, with subsequent continuation years through September 2028. Eligible applicants include first-tier subrecipients who do not owe funds to ODH, have not been referred to the Attorney General's office, and submit all required documents by the deadline. Applications must be submitted electronically through the Grants Management Information System Portal (GMISP) by 4:00 p.m. on June 9, 2025. Faxed, mailed, or hand-delivered applications will not be accepted. All required documentation includes updated workplans, signed assurances, audit reports, and registrations in relevant systems such as SAM.gov. Specific formatting guidelines for submissions are required, including document labeling, spacing, margins, font use, and pagination. The total funding for this grant cycle is $856,000, with up to eight grants of $107,000 available. The minimum award is $30,000. Two optional supplemental funding opportunities are offered: up to $56,000 for Stark County Health Department to manage the Child Injury Action Group (CIAG), and up to $24,000 for coordinating a statewide injury prevention conference. These supplemental funds raise the total available funding to $936,000. The grant is fully deliverables-based, requiring measurable outputs such as coalition meetings, strategic planning, professional development, and implementation of child injury prevention strategies. Applicants are evaluated based on program narrative updates, SMART objectives and workplans, health disparity reduction documentation, budget justification, and compliance with reporting requirements. Specific deliverables must be submitted through REDCap, and payment is contingent upon timely and complete submissions. Key deliverables include maintaining local coalitions, participating in state-level coalitions and events, conducting child injury awareness campaigns, completing professional development, evaluating capacity, and fulfilling staffing requirements. Contact for inquiries is Tiffany Boykins at tiffany.boykins@odh.ohio.gov. The application period opens upon publication, and all continuation applications acknowledge adherence to ODH policies, federal and state laws, and the OMB Uniform Grant Guidance. The final expenditure report is due by November 5, 2026, and reports must be submitted according to specified quarterly and monthly schedules throughout the grant period.
