Homer Area Community Foundation Grant
This grant provides funding to nonprofit organizations for projects that enhance health, education, arts, and community development in the Homer area of Michigan, particularly benefiting underserved populations.
The Homer Area Community Foundation (HACF), established in 1994 as an affiliate of the Battle Creek Community Foundation, serves the Homer area of Michigan by developing and managing permanent resources aimed at addressing local needs. With a focus on community enhancement, the Foundation supports initiatives that align with its mission to foster educational, recreational, environmental, and cultural growth within the region. HACF provides funding through three main sources: the Unrestricted Fund, the Bessie Edwards Education Fund, and the Youth Fund. The Foundation encourages innovative and impactful grant proposals that benefit a broad spectrum of Homer residents, especially those targeting underserved populations. Eligible projects must support one or more of the following areas: health, education, human services, arts and culture, youth, and community development. Grant applications are reviewed by the Foundation’s Grant Review Committee, along with input from the Homer Youth Advisory Committee. Applications are categorized based on funding request amounts. General grants, which exceed $500, require approximately two months for a decision. Mini grants, which are $500 or less, can be submitted at any time and are usually reviewed within one month. To apply, applicants must be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and must submit a project budget using the Homer Grant Budget Form, along with a valid tax identification number. All materials are to be submitted electronically. Grant cycles have fixed deadlines; the next submission deadlines are May 7, 2025, at noon, and October 29, 2025, at noon. Applicants are encouraged to review the Grant Application Tutorial Instructions and video tutorials provided by the Foundation to aid in the submission process. For further assistance or inquiries, individuals can reach the Foundation at bccf@bccfoundation.org or call 269-962-2181.
