The Project Grants for Capital Improvements offer funding to arts organizations in Los Angeles County to support facility upgrades, renovations, equipment purchases, and other operational enhancements. These grants aim to improve physical or digital infrastructure, contributing to the long-term sustainability of organizations with a proven history of arts programming. All projects must be completed within 12 months, and each organization may submit one project that addresses a specific area of need. Eligible projects include: Facilities improvements Equipment purchases Artistic or programmatic supplies Office furnishings Digital technology upgrades Eligibility Criteria To submit a Letter of Interest (LOI), organizations must meet the following criteria: Location: Based in and serving Los Angeles County. Nonprofit Status: 501(c)(3) or fiscally sponsored organization operating in LA County for at least 5 consecutive years. Arts Programming: Must demonstrate a strong track record of ongoing arts programming accessible year-round. Staffing: At least three paid full-time staff members (not from the fiscal sponsor, if fiscally sponsored). Budget: An annual operating budget of at least $350,000. Governance: Must have a Board of Directors or Advisory Council. Track Record: Must have long-term partnerships with historically underfunded communities in the arts. Ineligible organizations include those with only seasonal arts programming, national or statewide organizations, educational institutions, and organizations with ongoing capital improvement grants. Funding Details Grant amounts range from $10,000 to $400,000, with the following requirements: Requests under $50,000: Two bids and 5% of the project cost must be secured. Requests between $50,000 and $149,999: Three bids and 10% of the cost must be secured. Requests between $150,000 and $249,999: Three bids and 15% of the cost must be secured. Requests of $250,000 or more: Three bids and 20% of the cost must be secured. Application Process The application process begins with submitting a Letter of Interest (LOI). Only the most competitive applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Projects should be well-advanced in planning and capable of completion within 12 months. If a project is still in the early stages, organizations are encouraged to wait for the next open call in fall 2025. Priority will be given to organizations that have not previously received funding from the Perenchio Foundation, although those with previous general operating or capital improvement grants are eligible to apply.

To be eligible to submit a Project Grant LOI for Capital Improvements, your organization must meet the following criteria: Location: The organization and its staff must be based in and serving the communities of Los Angeles County. Nonprofit Status: Must be a 501(c)(3) or fiscally sponsored organization that has been operating in LA County for at least five (5) consecutive years. Arts Programming: Must have a long-standing track record of arts as a core priority, with active and ongoing arts programming, activities, and/or direct services accessible to the public year-round in LA County. Staffing and Capacity: Must have at least three (3) paid full-time staff members for the current fiscal year. If fiscally sponsored, these staff members must be from your organization, not the fiscal sponsor. Budget: Must have an annual operating budget of at least $350,000.
