Financial Inclusion and Prosperity Fund
This grant provides financial support to nonprofit organizations focused on empowering low- and moderate-income communities and underserved populations in New England and parts of New York.
The Amplify Fund was a philanthropic initiative powered by the M&T Charitable Foundation following the merger between M&T Bank and People’s United Bank. Announced in May 2022, the Amplify Fund committed $25 million over three years to support low- and moderate-income communities and underserved populations across the former People’s United Bank footprint, encompassing New England and parts of New York. This effort was intended to advance equity and address systemic inequities through financial empowerment, environmental initiatives, community organizing, mission-driven work, and capacity building. The Amplify Fund was executed in three phases. Phase I launched in 2022 with a regional Request for Proposal (RFP) process and awarded over $11.8 million to 105 nonprofit organizations. Phase II followed in 2023, distributing over $8.2 million to 68 nonprofits through another RFP process, specifically supporting collaboratives focused on equity advancement. Phase III, announced in March 2025, focused on Financial Inclusion and Prosperity (AF-FIP) and awarded $4.9 million to 51 organizations across New England, Long Island, and Westchester County, New York. By the conclusion of the program, the M&T Charitable Foundation had awarded the full $25 million commitment to 224 nonprofit organizations and collaboratives. The fund emphasized fostering collaboration among nonprofits and creating systemic, lasting change within the communities served. The Amplify Fund is now closed, and applications are no longer being accepted. For ongoing charitable opportunities, interested parties are directed to the M&T Charitable Contributions webpage.
