2025 Corral & Cathers Art Fund

The Corral & Cathers Art Fund, established by Ray Corral, founder of Mosaicist, Inc., and arts advocate Catherine Cathers, is administered through the Coral Gables Community Foundation. This grant program aims to support professional artists residing in Miami-Dade County by providing financial assistance for professional development, artistic exploration, and creative projects. The fund is dedicated to recognizing artists who have committed their lives to their craft and encourages them to further develop their skills and artistic endeavors. The grant provides funding to individual artists working in visual arts disciplines, including craft arts, sculpture, ceramics, mixed/multiple media, installation, and digital media arts. The funds may be used for artistic supplies, exhibitions, project-related expenses, professional development opportunities, and residencies. However, the program does not fund organizations, educational institutions, or students. Grants are awarded based on an artist’s demonstrated commitment to their work and their potential to contribute to the Coral Gables or broader South Florida artistic community. Each awarded artist can receive a grant of up to $5,000. The selection process evaluates applicants based on their professional background, artistic vision, and the potential impact of the grant on their career. A final report of 500-600 words is required within 30 days of the grant period's completion, detailing how the funds were utilized, their impact on the artist’s development, and their contribution to the community. This report should include images of the work produced during the grant period. Eligible applicants must be professional artists, at least 18 years old, residing in Miami-Dade County for at least one year before applying and committing to remain there for the duration of the grant period. Artists must apply on their behalf and may not submit applications through representatives. Those who work collaboratively may submit one joint application but may not apply individually as well. Applicants must provide several submission materials, including a brief biography, an artist statement, a CV or résumé, a narrative description of how they plan to use the grant to advance their career and contribute to the community, up to ten work samples, and proof of residency in Miami-Dade County. Additional support materials, limited to three pages, may also be submitted. The program welcomes previous grant recipients to reapply. Applications must be submitted by Friday, March 14, 2025.
