Grant Description

The FY25 Neighborhood Placemaking Grant Fund, administered by the Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA), supports non-capital projects that enhance heritage tourism and improve quality of life in Baltimore neighborhoods. Eligible applicants can request grants ranging from $1,500 to $5,000, requiring a one-to-one match in cash or in-kind contributions. Applications are due online via BNHA’s Submittable portal by December 10, 2024, at 11:59 PM, and funded projects must be completed between February 1, 2025, and February 1, 2026. The grant focuses on three priority areas: navigating neighborhoods (e.g., interpretive signage, walking tours, events), greening neighborhoods (e.g., beautification, environmental stewardship), and planning for neighborhood revitalization (e.g., feasibility studies, branding, and market research). Applicants must be nonprofits or community organizations operating within BNHA’s boundaries and in good standing with Maryland state regulations. Activities must align with the BNHA’s Comprehensive Management Plan, emphasizing emerging neighborhoods with limited funding access. Funds cannot be used for staff salaries, capital expenditures, travel outside the U.S., or religious or political activities. Half the award is disbursed upon agreement signing, and the remainder reimbursed upon project completion and approval of a final report. Required documents include a detailed budget using BNHA’s template, proof of property permissions (if applicable), and documentation of matching contributions.
