South Salt Lake Mini-Grant
This grant provides financial support to individuals and organizations in South Salt Lake for hosting free cultural and arts events that engage the community.
The Celebrate South Salt Lake Mini-Grant is administered by the South Salt Lake Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to uniting the community through art. The Council believes that creative, caring individuals and groups can make a significant impact through community events and offers financial support, training, and marketing assistance to help bring these events to life. The grant program functions as both an incubator and a partnership, aimed at empowering applicants to plan and execute successful cultural or arts events in South Salt Lake. The Celebrate South Salt Lake Mini-Grant provides seed funding between $500 and $1,000 to individuals, businesses, groups, or organizations wishing to host cultural or arts events in South Salt Lake. Eligible events must align with the mission of the South Salt Lake Arts Council to unite the community through art, must be free and open to the public, and must be held in a public space in South Salt Lake. Events are expected to attract between 50 and 500 attendees and must take place before June 30, 2026. Event organizers are responsible for providing marketing materials, securing necessary permits, and submitting expense receipts and photographs post-event for full reimbursement. Applications must be submitted electronically or in person by 5:00 PM MST on Friday, June 15, 2025. Award recipients will be announced on June 30, 2025, and must attend a mandatory Celebrate SSL Grantee Workshop on July 16, 2025, which will provide crucial information on event permitting, facility rentals, and city requirements. Applicants can apply online through the South Salt Lake Arts Council website or pick up a printed form at the South Salt Lake City Hall. Events will be evaluated based on a complete application, previous funding success, ability to complete the event within the timeline, community impact, artistic and cultural merits, diversity of the event, and audience engagement. Up to eight events may be selected for funding based on available resources. Selected applicants can request up to 50% of the grant funds in advance, with the remaining balance provided after event completion and submission of required reports and documentation. For assistance, applicants may contact Jody Engar, Program Coordinator, at 801-483-6018 or [email protected]. Translation assistance is available upon request. The South Salt Lake Arts Council encourages applications from a diverse range of applicants and is committed to helping event organizers throughout the planning and execution stages.
