Cycle 2 Champion Grants Alabama Power Foundation
Champion Grants, provided by the Alabama Power Foundation, aim to support public school teachers in grades nine to eleven in accessing professional development and instructional resources to prepare students for college and career readiness in math and/or science. The grant amount is up to $7,500 per teacher team. Funding can be used for professional development, instructional resources, and classroom technology. There are two application cycles: Cycle 1 opens on March 25, 2024, and closes on April 26, 2024; Cycle 2 opens on August 5, 2024, and closes on September 6, 2024. Priority will be given to public schools with a high percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunches or those that are Title I schools. Teachers must collaborate within their grade level or subject area team and commit to professional growth and peer support. They must select professional development aligned with raising student achievement in math and/or science. The grant proposal should include a description of how the grant aims to improve student achievement and how success will be measured. Champion Grants cannot be used for private schools or non-school organizations and must focus on raising student achievement in math or English language arts. The application requires general school information, school principal background information, teacher team background information, and details about the grant proposal's impact on students and teachers. Recipient organizations must have tax-exempt status under the IRS Code and should not discriminate based on race, color, creed, gender, nationality or ethnic origin. Awards are paid to the school rather than individuals.
