U.S. Embassy Santiago Public Diplomacy Annual Program Statement

The U.S. Embassy Santiago Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) has announced the FY2025 Public Diplomacy Grants Program to fund projects that enhance bilateral ties between the United States and Chile. This program invites proposals that align with specific strategic priorities, including combating disinformation, fostering mutual economic prosperity, promoting science and technology collaboration, and supporting democratic institutions. All projects must incorporate a clear U.S. element, such as the involvement of U.S. experts, organizations, or methodologies. Applicants are required to submit a two-step application process beginning with a Statement of Interest (SOI) by May 15, 2025. The SOI should provide an overview of the proposed project, including objectives, audience, anticipated outcomes, and a preliminary budget. Selected applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Up to 10 awards are anticipated, with funding amounts ranging from $40,000 to $100,000, subject to the availability of funds. The expected project completion date is December 31, 2026. Eligibility extends to U.S. and Chilean non-profit organizations, civil society organizations, educational institutions, and individuals with programming experience. For-profit entities are ineligible. While cost sharing or in-kind contributions are not mandatory, they are encouraged. Organizations must register in SAM.gov and have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) before receiving an award, though this is not required to submit an SOI. Proposals should align with one or more priority areas: enhancing media literacy and resilience against disinformation, promoting economic empowerment through entrepreneurship and English language learning, fostering institutional cooperation in science and technology, and supporting democratic governance and rule of law. The program values inclusivity and encourages diversity, equity, and sustainability in all proposed activities. Evaluation of SOIs is based on alignment with priority areas, clarity of objectives, audience engagement, feasibility, and budget. Following the SOI review, successful applicants will have one month to submit detailed full proposals, which must include a monitoring and evaluation plan, budget narrative, and proof of SAM registration.
