Grant Description

The Scale For ClimateTech Cohort 6 program is now open to applications from climate technology innovators aiming to scale hardware solutions that drive decarbonization. This nine-month program offers participants tailored mentorship, workshops, and events to assist in refining their manufacturing processes and preparing their products for market readiness. Cohort members will benefit from hands-on support to scale production and meet demand, making it suitable for hardware-focused climate tech ventures focused on energy reduction, resource efficiency, and greenhouse gas reduction. Eligible applicants must have a climate tech innovation, particularly in sectors like Buildings, Grid, Transportation, or Industry, that contributes to the decarbonization of New York State. Technologies that extend fossil fuel infrastructure or use fossil fuels are not eligible. Innovators should have a functioning “looks-like/works-like” prototype with a hardware component and documented interest from customers or partners—such as a Letter of Intent, Letter of Support, or contingent purchase order—indicating commitment for pilot testing, pre-sales, or manufacturing. Applicants should have an operational or planned presence in New York State, which may include aspects like an NY-based workforce, NY State purchase orders, or an addressable market within the state. Additionally, they must demonstrate their product’s potential for substantial greenhouse gas reduction within New York. Financial resources for at least twelve months of development and a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 5 or higher are required, with selected participants typically at TRL 7. A dedicated team member with authority over technical or manufacturing decisions must also be part of the team to engage fully in program activities. Manufacturing in New York is not mandatory, though it is encouraged to support local supply chains and manufacturing ecosystems. The program welcomes applications from climate tech companies that align with these goals and who are prepared to make a positive environmental impact in New York State.
