Grant Description

The FY2023 Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Gun Violence Reduction Grant Program, administered by the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (CJCC) in partnership with the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Northern District of Georgia, seeks to support law enforcement initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence and enhancing community safety. This grant program funds law enforcement projects to prevent, intervene, and suppress gun crime, particularly in high-risk areas within the Northern District of Georgia. Key Details: Application Deadline: November 8, 2024, by 5:00 PM. Available Funding: $82,471 total, with individual awards capped at $37,000. Grant Period: One year (12 months). Eligibility: Local and state law enforcement agencies in the 46 counties of the Northern District of Georgia. Program Purpose: The PSN program focuses on: Reducing gun and gang violence. Supporting community engagement and strategic law enforcement initiatives. Promoting trust and legitimacy within communities. Developing innovative strategies to reduce gun-related crime and enhance public safety. Use of Funds: Funds can be used for: Gun Reduction: Strategies to enhance gun safety and reduce illegal gun use (e.g., deterrence, education, outreach, youth-focused interventions). Equipment and Technology: Investments in technology or equipment to support law enforcement’s response to gun violence (e.g., secure gun storage, evidence management, ballistics tracing). Education and Prevention: Programs focused on preventing gun crimes, such as public awareness initiatives or addressing firearm theft. Unallowable Costs: Personnel hires Projects that only fund technology or equipment without broader programming Vehicles, food, prizes, drones, and administrative costs Application Process: Applicants must submit a 3-5 page narrative addressing the problem, needs, and proposed project.
