Youth Development Grant Program

The Events DC Youth Development Grant Program is administered by Events DC, the official convention and sports authority for the District of Columbia. This organization is committed to enhancing the city's economic and community vitality by supporting sports, entertainment, and cultural events. Through its Youth Development Grant Program, Events DC provides funding to nonprofit organizations in Washington, DC that operate youth programs during the summer. The initiative underscores Events DC’s commitment to community development and the belief that all youth should have access to meaningful activities when school is out. This grant program is designed specifically to support sports-related extracurricular activities for young people in DC during the summer of 2025. The purpose is to keep youth active, engaged, and empowered through programs that promote life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and discipline. Events DC aims to help young people develop capabilities that will benefit them throughout their lives. The grant provides immediate financial support to nonprofits that plan and operate these types of programs, with a focus on creating impactful, educational experiences. The total funding pool for fiscal year 2025 is $1,000,000. Grants are available only to nonprofit organizations that are legally incorporated in the District of Columbia. Applicants must also have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and be exempt from DC income and franchise taxes. Eligible organizations must submit a complete application along with detailed descriptions of their proposed summer programs. The grant specifically supports summer programming that encourages youth participation in sports-related activities. To apply, organizations must provide several key documents including their most recent annual audited financial statements prepared by a certified public accountant or, if unavailable, their most recent IRS Form 990. All applications must clearly outline the proposed program, how the grant will be used, and how the program supports youth development. Applications will be evaluated based on their completeness, responsiveness, and potential impact. The grant application period opens on June 13, 2025, and closes on September 30, 2025. Two informational sessions are scheduled for June 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
