Potential Diagnosis, Testing, Management, and Ongoing Research on COVID-19
This funding opportunity provides financial support for healthcare organizations to develop educational programs that help primary care providers and infectious disease specialists improve the diagnosis and management of long COVID, particularly for underserved populations.
Pfizer Inc. is offering funding through its Independent Medical Education Grant Program for educational initiatives focused on post-COVID conditions. The funding opportunity aims to support primary care providers and infectious disease specialists in improving their ability to identify, diagnose, manage, and follow up with patients experiencing long COVID or PASC. Programs that address healthcare disparities and support marginalized and underserved populations are especially encouraged. The grant opportunity allows for innovative educational program formats that can reach large numbers of primary care providers. Projects may focus on testing and assessment of post-COVID conditions, treatment strategies including pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods, culturally responsive care practices, and summaries of the latest research. While all activity types are considered, clinical research projects or those evaluating diagnostic agents are not eligible. Applicants must be healthcare-related organizations such as medical or nursing schools, healthcare institutions, professional societies, or medical education companies. The project lead must be employed or contracted by the applying organization. Only organizations are eligible; individuals and unaffiliated medical practices are excluded. Organizations offering continuing education must be appropriately accredited. The total available budget is $450,000, with individual awards capped at $150,000. Overhead costs are allowed up to 28% of the total budget. The funding cannot be used for therapeutic products or general operational costs like insurance or legal fees. Proposals must follow a prescribed format, including a clearly outlined project plan, timeline, goals, innovation components, methods, evaluation metrics, dissemination plans, and budget breakdown. The Request for Proposals (RFP) was released on May 30, 2025. Applications will be accepted beginning July 10, 2025, with the same day as the deadline. Grant awards are expected to be announced in August 2025, and projects are anticipated to start in October 2025 and last up to one year. Submissions must be made through the CyberGrants Pfizer portal. Applicants seeking support should direct questions to Monika Sojewska at Monika.Sojewska@pfizer.com, using the subject line “Post-COVID Conditions: Potential Diagnosis, Testing, Management, and Ongoing Research.” Detailed application instructions, including required content and formatting, are available in the appendix section of the RFP.
