Black Community Fund Grants 2025

The Black Community Fund (BCF), an affiliate of the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, has been investing in the African American community of Greater Kansas City for over 30 years. Established by the Hall Family Foundation in 1983, BCF provides grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that enhance the socio-economic conditions of the African American community within the Greater Kansas City area. The 2025 grant cycle opens on March 1, 2025, and applications are due by April 14, 2025, at 5:00 PM CST. Grant awards typically range from $500 to $15,000. Applicants must ensure that no organization holds more than one active grant or request with BCF at any given time, and BCF typically does not serve as the sole or primary funder for a project. Preference is given to black-led and black-serving organizations. However, certain funding exclusions apply: BCF does not fund endowments, debt liquidation, capital expenditures, scholarships or grants to individuals, annual appeals, membership contributions, conference expenses, or organizations that received BCF grants in the Spring 2024 cycle or from the August 2024 Vision Workshop Pitch Competition in the amount of $4,000 or more. Applications require responses to narrative questions, a detailed project budget, a list of the current board of directors, and submission of the most recent Form 990, financial statement, or organizational budget. Awardees must complete a final report detailing project outcomes and expenditures to remain eligible for future funding. Applicants new to the system must register through the provided platform.
