New Mexico Children’s Foundation Grant
This funding program provides financial support to small nonprofit organizations in New Mexico that deliver essential services to children in underserved communities, particularly in rural areas.
The New Mexico Children’s Foundation (NMCF) Grant is an annual funding program that supports small nonprofit organizations providing critical services for children in underserved communities across New Mexico. Since its inception in 1992, the foundation has awarded $2.3 million in grants to 249 organizations across the state. The grant program prioritizes projects that address unmet needs for children 18 years old or younger, particularly in rural New Mexico. For the 2025-2026 grant cycle, the application period is open until March 31, 2025. Selected grantees will receive notification of funding in May 2025, and funds will be distributed shortly thereafter. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations based in New Mexico with an annual operating budget of $400,000 or less. The program funds both new and existing programs that provide direct services to children, with a funding cap of $10,000 per award. Operating expenses are eligible for funding, but applicants must provide a detailed project budget as part of their submission. In the 2024-2025 grant cycle, NMCF awarded more than $100,000 in grants to 33 organizations. Past recipients have included CASA, First Judicial District, Imagination Library of Luna County, Play Sharity Foundation, Roswell Wings for L.I.F.E., and New Mexico Friends of Foster Children. A significant portion of NMCF's funding comes from community donations, with 88% of all raised funds going directly to grantmaking. Applicants can submit their proposals online and are encouraged to review the grant application guidelines before applying.
