The Big Sky Film Grant (BSFG) is a competitive grant program administered by the Montana Film Office (MFO) under the Montana Department of Commerce. The program offers multiple grant categories, including: Feature Film and TV: No maximum award, with a minimum Montana-spend of $350,000. Short Form Content: Awards range from $1,000 to $50,000 for projects with budgets under $350,000. Resident Feature Film and TV: Up to $100,000 for projects led by Montana-resident filmmakers. Resident Short Form Content: Up to $50,000 for projects led by Montana-resident filmmakers. Applications must include detailed project descriptions, budgets, filming schedules, and evidence of secured funding. Special consideration is given to projects that film in rural Montana, engage Montana-based vendors, or employ Montana residents. Applicants are allowed one submission per funding cycle. The total annual program funding is $1.5 million.
