Grant Description

The FY25 Artist Fellowship, offered by the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council (PGAHC), supports individual artists and arts professionals in Prince George’s County, Maryland, who demonstrate artistic excellence and a commitment to impacting local communities through their work. With a maximum award of $5,000, the fellowship provides project-specific funding to support new works, works in progress, or research toward future creative projects. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years old, reside or maintain an active studio in Prince George’s County for at least six months before applying, and have a portfolio reflecting at least one year of professional practice. Projects must serve primarily county residents, though digital works reaching broader audiences are also eligible. Applicants must be in good standing with PGAHC, with no incomplete or delinquent reports from previous funding cycles. Allowable costs include rental or purchase of equipment, materials, or studio space; marketing and documentation expenses; and up to 30% of funds for nondiscretionary needs such as labor. The grant does not support organizational use, projects primarily benefiting guest artists, or expenses outside the eligible geographical area (Prince George’s County, Washington, D.C., or Northern Virginia). Applications require a project title and description, a detailed budget, and an explanation of how the funding will support the artistic goals and outcomes. Applicants must also outline evaluation metrics, provide work samples, and describe their prior artistic projects and community impact. Accessibility and inclusivity for diverse audiences are emphasized. The application deadline is January 31, 2025, via the Submittable Grant Portal. An informational session will be held on January 9, 2025, to assist applicants. Successful grantees must use funds between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026, and submit a final report detailing project outcomes and community engagement to remain eligible for future grants.
