Employment Labor and Training for Nonprofits Grants

This program will allow award recipients to undertake projects to assist marginalized and underserved women workers who have been impacted by gender-based violence and harassment (GBVH) in the world of work, which includes activities that occur in the course of, linked with, or arising out of work. Grant recipients will undertake projects to prevent and respond to GBVH, which is pervasive across industries and deeply impacts the safety and economic security of women workers and survivors. Survivors of GBVH often suffer the loss of other employment rights and benefits. Grant recipients will address GBVH in the world of work by building awareness, connecting women to federal and state workplace rights and benefits, and implementing worker and survivor-driven strategies to shift workplace norms. Selected awardees will work to reach women workers and survivors with a particular focus on underserved and marginalized women workers who are disproportionately impacted by GBVH, including but not limited to women of color, women with disabilities, justice system-impacted women, individuals who identify as LGBTQI+, marginalized workers in women-dominated sectors, ethnic minorities, immigrants, workers with limited English proficiency and workers experiencing substance abuse issues, homelessness, or chronic poverty. Burgum Foundation Grant Program for Nonprofit Organizations in North Dakota is offering funding for programs that focus on improving educational opportunities and quality of instruction for students in rural communities and disadvantaged backgrounds. The foundation also supports the provision of behavioral health services in rural schools by partnering with school districts and service providers to bring mental health professionals on-site, eliminating transportation barriers. Additionally, the program provides teacher leadership opportunities through collaborations between local districts and North Dakota Universities to offer a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership for teachers, benefiting numerous school districts across the state.

Cultural Collaborations Excursion Grants Program in Alaska offers awards of up to $600 (or $1,000 for eligible Title I schools) to support transportation and admission costs for public or nonprofit schools attending arts and cultural events or visiting recognized venues in Alaska. Administered by the Alaska State Council on the Arts with support from Rasmuson Foundation, schools can apply for multiple activities within one grant application but are limited to one grant per school year.

This program provides funding to organizations that host events offering essential services to veterans facing or at risk of homelessness, helping them reintegrate into the workforce.

An undiversified economy and inequitable participation in the labor force are two economic challenges facing the Dakhla and Laayoune regions. Largely dependent on agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, tourism, and phosphate mining for income, the region is susceptible to a disconnect between citizens and the government when the primary source of revenue is from a natural resource rather than the citizens themselves. Overreliance on those industries also limits private sector growth and contributes to a low rate of womens participation in the labor market. Competitive proposals will support activities targeting underserved communities, to include women, youth, and People with Disabilities (PWD). The beneficiaries should receive some combination of soft- and job-skills along with entrepreneurship training. Proposals which have an innovative approach and/or have concrete outcomes such as jobs obtained, or businesses created will be looked on favorably. Proposals can reference relevant prior experience. This project will support civil society in the Dakhla and Laayoune regions by developing the professional skills of the participants. Incremental progress in these areas is made possible through an informed and empowered population. The project will also help create the economic conditions that, in turn, allow associations and businesses to organize and approach local officials on questions and issues important to them, whether resource allocation or gender equity.
