Expanding the capacity of organizations to provide workforce development services, including: Hiring staff or contracting for services; Developing strategies around workforce programs including program development Purchasing equipment, technology, or other supplies; Paying for administrative costs; and Any other activities necessary to increase the organization’s capacity to provide workforce programs that advance economic mobility, educational attainment, and career advancement in the healthcare sector. Eligibility Criteria In order to receive an award under this RFA, an Applicant must: Be a workforce service provider or a community-based organization that administers workforce programs in the healthcare sector; Defines workforce service providers as including: nonprofit and public workforce education, training, and career services providers; and governmental entities that provide workforce development services. Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is offering grants through the relaunch of the Materials Management grants program, which has been renamed the Reduce, Reuse, Reimagine Grants Program. Waste prevention is an environmentally centered approach to reduce the consumption of natural resources and generation of waste before something becomes trash or pollution. Waste prevention activities reduce waste by changing product design, by using less, by using something longer, or by repairing it. DEQ may award grants for activities that reduce the environmental and human health impacts of materials such as: A farmers market purchasing reusable dishes to eliminate single-use products Establishing or expanding services for community tool libraries or other share libraries. The Gray Family Foundation’s Outdoor School Grant Program seeks to increase the capacity of schools and outdoor school providers to deliver high quality outdoor school experiences to all Oregon 5th or 6th grade students. Gray FF acknowledges that there are limitations of how OSU Extension Service funds may be distributed which may exclude private, charter and home school students from eligibility. In the past several years there have be solutions developed in collaboration with ESDs and public schools that allow independent and charter schools to access Measure 99 funds. Gray FF will still accept requests for programmatic grants to help these students participate in the outdoor school experience but encourages schools to first explore alternative options with their local ESD or public school system. This fund provides financial support for reopening libraries in Douglas County, early childhood education programs, and leadership development for emerging leaders in the community.

The Whipple Foundation Fund, established by Mildred Whipple in 2003, aims to improve and enhance lifelong learning for the residents of Douglas County. The fund supports the reopening of libraries that were previously part of the Douglas County Library System, with a particular emphasis on reopening the Mildred Whipple Library in Drain. The fund also intends to make an annual grant to the American Leadership Forum to support the participation of an emerging leader from Douglas County. Ten percent of the total grant award comes from Pioneer Connect, which will be your sponsor when applying. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Grant proposals must be submitted using the format provided.
