Citi Foundation Opens $50M in Unrestricted Grant Funding for Non-Profits Through Oct. 25

The Citi Foundation has announced an additional $50 million in funding to support the fourth cohort of Community Progress Makers. This initiative is designed to uplift community organizations connecting low-income communities to vast socio-economic opportunities. Through an open request for proposals (RFP), 50 organizations will be selected to receive $1 million each in unrestricted grant support over three years, along with technical assistance and networking opportunities. Priority will be given to those demonstrating strong community connections, effective data utilization, and innovative visions in areas like affordable housing, economic development, financial health, and workforce readiness.

Here's what you need to know:

  • Background: Launched in 2015, the Community Progress Makers initiative is all about amplifying the impact of non-profits in designated geographies: Greater Chicago, Greater Washington, D.C, New York Tri-State, Northern California, Southern California, and South Florida. This is the fourth round of funding through the Community Progress Makers initiative.

  • Funding Details: A total of 50 organizations will be chosen to receive $1 million each, distributed over a three-year period. This is a notable increase from the previous grant of $500,000 over two years in 2021.

  • Use of Funds: The Citi Foundation is particularly interested in organizations specializing in affordable housing, economic development, financial health, and workforce readiness.

  • Bonus Opportunity: Beyond the monetary support, all successful applicants will gain entry into a unique learning community. This platform offers the chance to collaborate, share best practices, and avail technical assistance from national experts.

Brandee McHale, President of the Citi Foundation, emphasized the foundation's commitment, stating, "We aim to support non-profit innovators that address current challenges and are equipped to shape the future."
