The Albert and Ethel Herzstein Charitable Foundation makes grants in the areas of education; health, science and social services; humanities, arts and culture; and community development. Previous grants were used to fund community partnership initiatives at public schools, programs educating school children about CPR, youth leadership programs, early childhood initiatives, Catholic school foundations, programs targeting students recovering from alcohol and drug abuse, bereavement centers, and arts programs for homeless children in shelters. Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations. While funding is available nationwide, preference is given to programs and organizations in the State of Texas and the Houston area. Interested applicants should submit a written request containing a brief organization history, financial statements, program description and program need, project budget, data about the target audience, and measure of funding beyond the grant period. The Foundation accepts applications on a rolling basis and only accepts one application per grantee per year. 5/31
